Should my chat room be a public or private chat room, and how do I set this up?

A public chat room is one that can be seen by other chat room users. For example, our demo chat room is a public chat room because you can see other rooms listed in a box below the users in the room. Likewise, other public rooms see your room name in this box, which allows them to "jump" to your room and allows people in your room to "jump" to other chat rooms.

A private room does not list other active rooms and private rooms are excluded from public chat rooms, so no one can get to your room unless they enter through your website.

A parameter value at the top of your HTML determines whether or not your chat room is public or private and can be changed. To change this value, edit the following line within your chat applet.

<param name="private" value="false">
